Apostle Dr. Cynthia L. Chess is the Founder and Pastor of Mountain’s Hope Community Worship Center (MHCWC) located in Tracy, Mountain House and Patterson, California. She is also the Founder and President of Victory Over Individual Challenges, (The VOIC), a Community Economic Educational Development Corporation and Founder and Executive Director of both C. L. Chess Ministries and Glory to Glory International Ministries.


Prayer Warrior, Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher are all titles that denote the rich anointing on the life of Apostle Chess. Her style of preaching and teaching is exuberant and inspiring. Apostle Chess ministers in the truth of Isaiah 58:1 which commands that the prophet of God "Cry aloud and spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet and show my people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins". While declaring what "thus says the Lord”, as an Equipping Apostle, her many sermons and empowerment seminars have been used to propel the people of God into their God given assignment & destiny.


Apostle Chess believes that “every person can be a leader, because leadership is about influence”. When their skills and giftings are activated, the results will produce powerful impacts to their personal lives, education, businesses, churches and communities. She is dedicated to develop emerging leaders by providing resources that foster the growth of young and adult leaders who can transform society. She and her team provide those resources to public schools, universities, churches, civic organizations, nonprofits and corporations.


With a spirit of excellence, since founding MHCWC and Glory to Glory International Ministries, she has taught and provided resources and leadership training. One of the many mandates placed upon Apostle Chess is that of equipping the Saints for the work of the ministry. God has commissioned and anointed her to plant, multiply, lead, and oversee an apostolic network of churches, ministries, businesses and leaders.

With the heart of Christ for ministry and His people, she is a leading authority on how to understand the next generation and prepare tomorrow’s leaders today. She has a passion for families, at risk youth, the underserved community and entrepreneurship, thus forming, The VOIC, based in Tracy, California, to focus on prevention, intervention, redemption, ascension, designed to propel people into their destiny’s.

Apostle Chess has received several recognition awards from the City of Tracy, the State of California Legislature and the State of California Senate for her work in the community. She also received the 2015 Shining Star Award from Preach the Word Worldwide Network in Tallahassee, Florida.

A graduate of Shiloh Bible College, E.C. Reems Bible College and Holy Names College, all in Oakland, California, Apostle Chess considers it an honor and a privilege to teach the Word of God to believers from every denomination and culture. In 2004, she received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Ministry from Bell Grove Theological Seminary.

Apostle Chess and the love of her life, her husband Elder Troy, reside in Northern California.
